Donations

Any and all financial donations are accepted and greatly appreciated.  Any financial donation is tax deductible as East Wood Volunteer Fire Department is a non-profit organization.

Your financial help is used to help you.  Without your help, the fire department would not be able to pay bills or purchase the necessary equipment needed to do the job we are trained to do.

If you know of anyone in the East Wood V. F. D. coverage area that does not donate, please encourage them to do so.  We would like everyone to support the department in any way possible.

If you are on a fixed income, we understand.  Send what you can, if you can.  And may you be rewarded some day for your giving.

Within the next few years, the department will be needing to replace one or both engines.  These two trucks are approximately 17 years old and have served their purpose however, the department has grown over the years and has expanded by far the use of these two trucks.

If you can afford to donate a little extra and would like to see it placed toward a new truck, please write a separate check, write memo for Truck.

THANK YOU, EVERYONE for all the support in the 34 years that East Wood Volunteer Fire Department has served you and the surrounding communities.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

East Wood Volunteer Fire Department, along with all other departments in the state, receive approximately $26,000.00 each year from the State of WV.  The Wood County Commission allots approximately $14,000.00 to each department in the county.  That totals to $40,000.00 a year "income" for the department.

Now, the department has a annual truck payment, annual insurance premium, quarterly Workers Compensation costs and monthly utility bills, along with any firefighting, medical or rescue equipment that needs purchased, replaced or fixed.

The State funds pay the truck payment, the County funds pay the annual insurance premium.  That still leaves the quarterly Workers Compensation costs, monthly utility bills and the purchasing, replacing or fixing of any firefighting, medical or rescue equipment.  How does the department pay for all that...

The answer, YOU and your neighbors.

Not to make anyone feel guilty or shamed, just consider the next few paragraphs.  Think about what they say.

If you donate, do your neighbors?  It's a good question to ask.  Without the financial giving of ALL the citizens, the department would not be able to keep its doors open.  What would that do to your homeowners insurance rates?

If you donate and your neighbors do not, do you think it's right?  Your donation helps the fire department stay one step closer to keeping another bill paid and the doors to the department open.  But is it right for you to pay for your neighbors fire and rescue protection?

Everyone that donates, that is what you all do each year that you mail your donation.  Talk to your neighbors and stress to them the importance of supporting their local volunteer fire department.

Don't stop giving your financial support, it could cost you in the long run.
